Can you officiate, and is registration required?
Oklahoma no longer asks ministers to file credentials: that requirement was repealed effective 1 November 2022, and a county court clerk states it plainly. What remains is a self-certification on the marriage certificate that you hold credentials or authority from your church or synagogue authorizing you to solemnize marriages. Recording ordination papers is now voluntary, and most third-party guidance still describes Oklahoma as a credential-filing state, which is out of date. The couple gets the license from a county Court Clerk; it is valid in any county in the state and lasts 30 days.
Who returns the license, and by when
The license and completed certificate go back to the court clerk for recording no later than thirty days from the date the license was issued, not thirty days after the ceremony. The ceremony must also happen inside those same thirty days, so the practical rule is to get the license close to the date. Confirm the count with the issuing court clerk.
